Monday Must Haves: Thanksgiving Decor!

With Thanksgiving being only 3 days away, it's time to start putting together the last minute decorations! We recently moved 10 hours away from my family and with being in my third trimester, it was recommend we not travel that far so this is my first Thanksgiving away from my family. However, that also means its my first Thanksgiving cooking it all, with Derek's help of course... and Xander coming in every so often to help mix and try things! Although, I'm sad to not be with my family this Thanskgiving, I'm pretty excited to put together my own Thanksgiving and that includes decorations! I have a habit of taking it overboard with holiday decorations but it should be stated, I've been good and not put out any Christmas decorations than the Christmas coffee mugs. So, my self-restraint must be getting better.

Winter Skin Care & Make Up

Year after year I have noticed as soon as the temperature drops, my skin completely changes. In reality it's probably only slightly dryer but in my mind it's like trying to pick out make up for an entirely new person... am I the only one that goes through this? Or the only one that made it to 24 without finding any make up that actually worked? Anyway, since moving to the Midwest, my skin seems even more insanely different. However! I have finally found a few make up and skin care routine samples that are saving my face.

With an almost 3 year old, school, moving into a new house, and every day things going on, I really wanted to keep my skin care and make up routine as quick and efficient as possible. By the time I'm doing my nightly skin care routine, I'm exhausted and I have found simply washing my make up off and using Olay Regenerist Night Recovery does the trick, it keep my skin looking hydrated and smooth! I also love that isn't oily at all. During the day, I'm usually rushing or trying to multitask so again, quick and efficient was key when I put my winter routine together. I start with Philosophy Hope In A Jar SPF 30- this is great for a daily routine and it has sunscreen added in so one less step! And again, this helps my skin stay moisturized without feeling oily, score! My daily make up varies but I usually always wear L'Oreal Lumi foundation and Revlon Lash Potion. These are the only foundation and mascara I have found that I continue to go back too. I hate when my foundation doesn't look smooth and L'Oreal Lumi blends in fabulously. As far as mascara my two big pet-peeves are when mascara makes my eyelashes stiff and when it won't completely wash off, it drives me absolutely crazy. Revlon Lash Potion keeps them soft but adds volume and length and washes off entirely so my face actually feels clean when I remove my make up. My final go-to for daily make up is Maybelline Color Sensation lipsticks, I have an embarrassingly large collection of lipsticks I keep coming back to the Maybelline line, even in winter the keep my lips hydrated so the color lasts longer and looks like I just put it on even hours later.

What about you? Do you have any skin care or make up staples?

Hope you're having a great weekend!

Monday Must Haves: Cold Weather and Minis

We have spent the past week getting moved into our new house! This is our 4th move in 3 years and I am done with moving for a while, if I as much as see a moving box in the next year I may just have a breakdown. The temperatures here have plummeted, last Monday we were moving it was a high 65 and by 8 pm it was in the 40s and hasn't come up since. We've been hanging out in temps in the 20s with no promise of snow yet. What's the point of freezing temperatures if there's noting pretty to look at?! My internal battle of 'can it be Christmas yet?!' continues, I kept my fall decorations up per request of Derek who thinks there's absolutely no reason to put Christmas decorations until after Thanksgiving... but I did get the Christmas mugs out and that will hold me over for these next 11 days. Anyway, with freezing temperatures and snow in the near future I've found some very great must haves to power through the first snow fall which always seems to hit like a freight train.

Pregnancy Chalkboard Tracker

I'm sure you've seen this a million times, pregnancy chalkboard trackers have been a thing for years. When I was pregnant with Xander we took weekly pictures but it's hard to decipher which weeks were which so with this pregnancy I wanted to record it better so I would have it for years to come and I decided to wear the same black dress in every picture to really see how much my belly grows! This is only the first few weeks, it was also during summer when I was pretty sure every color I was around had to be neon ha.

We found out about baby #2 when I was just 4-5 weeks along when baby is the size of a poppy seed and from there we started calling him/her Poppy until we knew the sex.
I'm coming up on 30 weeks so I have a lot to update but this weekend and week will be spent packing for our new house! Have a great weekend!!

Monday Must-Haves for Minis

Happy Monday everybody! Confession: I've been scouring stores for ideas for Xander's holiday outfits for months now. It is definitely starting to get colder here so I caved and started buying vital pieces for his holiday outfits. When choosing Xan's outfits, I try to get durable pieces that while hold up but are still cute and affordable, we all know with toddlers things only last a few brief minutes anyway. So here are a few pieces I have found that are equally durable, cute, affordable, and warm. Score!

Side note, I think the white sweater was a moment of pure hope that maybe just maybe he wouldn't notice he's wearing white and then perhaps it will stay clean? I can always hope.

5. Button Flannel Shirt (on sale!)

That wraps it up for must-haves, at least for now, I'm curious as to what you all look for when shopping for your little ones so let me know! Have a great week!!

Weekend Recap and Some Baby Registry Favorites

Halloween has officially come and gone which means for the next month or so I will be fighting in internal battle of being overly-excited for Christmas and trying to stop myself from decorating and trying to embrace fall a little bit longer. Which may explain why I'm watching Christmas movies while looking up Thanksgiving recipes and have already hit up Starbucks for some peppermint mocha red cup action!

Trunk-or-Treat was a pretty big success for us, Xander not only got candy but he had a blast passing out candy to other kids, unless they were dressed like monsters or didn't say "Halloween" back, his version of "Happy Halloween". After a few meltdowns we finally got to head home and on Saturday he was asking when Christmas is and if he can still wear his Halloween costume, I guess he's confused too. I've also made it to my 28th week of pregnancy- this is also the time I went into preterm labor with Xan so I'm trying to take it easy from here on out.

Since I'm in my 7th month of pregnancy so I decided it's probably time I start getting all the gear I want together or purchased if I don't have it already and with that brought on the insane feeling I had when I was registering when I was pregnant with Xander, there were so many options and recommendations that I just got overwhelmed and wanted to leave. But now, Xan is almost 3 and baby  #2 is just a few months away and I now feel (a little more) confident in knowing what is necessary, nice to have, and not necessary. So I wanted to share those with you! Obviously there a few basic things babies absolutely need; a crib/bassinet/co-sleeper, diapers, wipes, clothes, etc. These are just  a few favorites finds that I always recommend to moms-to-be when registering.

Baby Registry Favorites

The Angelcare monitor is fantastic, it offers a pad that goes under the mattress and it detects baby movement, if 20 seconds go by without movement an alarm sounds. This one also shows the temperature of baby's room.

We had a crib already but when Xander was a newborn I wasn't comfortable putting him in his nursery alone. So, we got an Armsreach Ideal Co-Sleeper and it really made things easier. You can put the co-sleeper right up to your bed so you can easily see and reach them which is also great for breastfeeding.  The co-sleeper also folds up quickly and is very compact making it easy to take it with you anywhere.

Swaddle wraps are great to have too, you know baby will be swaddled correctly even when you're so exhausted you're wearing two different shoes (because that will happen). We had two different kinds and I recommend them both;  the Summer Infant SwaddleMe was nice and it kept Xander warm without being too warm. The Woombie was our second pick and we loved it too, I personally think it breathes better and it is super soft.

Tommee Tippee bottles! We went through a ridiculous amount of bottles and found Tommee Tippee to be the best. Xander not only had no problem taking them but they're 3 simple parts which makes it easier to clean and put together. These bottles were even great for breast milk and there are many flow options so you can find what works best for baby.

Finally, for momma: Lansinoh HPA and Lansinoh TheraPearl both of these will make breastfeeding so much more comfortable especially in those first few weeks!

I'll create another list as I remember all my favorites,  hope you all had a great weekend!!
