36 & 37 Weeks

Christmas has come to an end which is always a little sad but I'm all too excited to get the decorations put away and start decorating for Xan's birthday :)

At 36 weeks we had an ultrasound suggesting baby weighs closer to 7 lbs and measuring in the 83rd percentile with a head measuring in the 99th percentile. Maybe I'm in denial about Ollie being that large but I decided to just stick with what the pregnancy apps were saying about suggested size and height for the updates!

Which gets us to 37 weeks with only 3 more weeks to go if baby stays in until full term! Nesting is definitely in full swing over here and I find myself doing ridiculous things like color coding the linen closet. Ya know, because that is necessary to bring a baby home too, apparently.  Here's to hoping the weather continues to be great until baby Ollie makes his arrival!!

Pregnancy Chalkboard Update!

I've been meaning to do a pregnancy update but with moving and the holidays, we've been super busy. This is my second pregnancy during the holidays and entirely forgot how stressful it is to start wrapping up a pregnancy, getting a nursery done, and planning for the holidays all at once can be. We also lost my camera in the move so weeks 16-33 we only have on my phone which makes me ridiculously sad. Here's to hoping it shows up soon. Anyway, here is an update of weeks 16-26!

Packing Your Maternity Hospital Bag!

I just hit the 35-week mark and with Christmas next week and Xander's birthday (also New Years Eve) right after, I wanted to get my hospital bag packed now to get it out of the way! I've had a lot of recommendations from other mommas on what to pack but I think your hospital bag really comes down to what you think you will need and use!

Hospital bag staples:

  • Tote bag - this one is similar to mine
  • Birth plan and necessary paperwork
  • Warm socks and/or slippers
  • Loose fitting pants
  • Compression tank top
  • Sweater
  • Postpartum corset
  • Nursing friendly shirts or loose fitting shirts
  • Pillow
  • Your favorite towel (seriously my nerves were so shot after I had Xander that I almost cried using the hospital sandpaper towel after my shower)
  • Underwear you don't mind most likely throwing away and are loose fitting (the hospital mesh underwear are always an option too)
  •  Boppy or nursing pillow
  • Nursing bras
  • Nipple balm (I like Milkies Nipple Balm)
  • Nursing pads (I like washable and disposable)
  • Hair ties... and then some extra hair ties because those little devils always disappear
  • Lip balm
  • Going home outfit for you (you may retain water during labor and after so wear shoes that can be worn loose in case of swelling)
  • Snacks (especially snacks you can eat with one hand and can help increase your milk supply!)
  • Hygiene items
  • Face wipes and moisturizer (I didn't have either with Xander and I desperately wished I did)
  • Dry shampoo
  • Make-up if you wish
  • * A bag for all the gifts you will receive and things the hospital will give you
  • *A pump if you plan to use one

 Electronics:

  • Cell phone
  • Cell phone charger
  • Camera
  • Camera charger/batteries

Other things that may be nice to have:

  • Magazines
  • Tablet

For baby:

  • Hats
  • Socks
  • Baby book (optional)
  • Going home outfit
  • Outfit for baby's pictures
  • Pacifiers you may want to use
  • Blankets for the ride home
  • Car seat
  • Car seat cover (because baby will be born in the middle of winter)

And a bag for your significant other:

  • Change of clothes
  • Hygiene items
  • Entertainment (books, magazines, tablet)
  • Snacks
Is there anything you have found to be crucial to have in your hospital bag? Let me know!

Must Have Monday

In the spirit of the holidays, here's a few random holiday party Must Haves for all those holiday parties. With being as big as a house this holiday season, I will have to settle for just looking but that doesn't mean I can't dream for next year!

Happy Holidays!

Christmas Decorating and 32 Week Update

We spent the past few days holiday shopping and decorating for Christmas and then this morning bright and early it hit me that baby # 2 will be here anywhere from this month to next month. It is definitely time to get my butt in gear and get the nursery ready and all the baby stuff unpacked! I'm pretty excited to get his nursery put together and will be doing a post about that soon :)

I'm actually 33 weeks now but with all the preparing for Thanksgiving, taking down those decorations, putting up Christmas decorations, and Christmas shopping- we haven't had time to take the 33 week picture yet. So here is 32 weeks!
